UPS upbeat on Philippines Date: August 25, 2017
MANILA, Philippines - UPS, a global logistics giant, plans to further expand its reach through partnerships and innovation to capitalize on the Philippines’ growing economy.

“The future is really bright for the Philippines,” UPS Philippines newly appointed managing director Christopher Buono said in a briefing yesterday.

He said UPS is constantly looking for opportunities to grow with other customers and companies.

“We’re also looking for opportunities for growth with Air21 in other areas,” Buono said.

In 2015, UPS entered into a partnership with Air21 to expand its service to more than 1,600 postal codes across seven major areas in the Philippines — Camanava, Angeles, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Cavite.

The partnership combined the firm’s international reach with Air21’s local knowledge and expertise to deliver premium quality service to meet local business needs.

Buono said the company is also looking to expand shipping capabilities for other products such as electronics.

Last March, UPS expanded its capability to ship wine, beer and spirits to 10 destinations within Asia Pacific that can import all three alcohol categories.

These are China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Macau.

UPS can now serve 24 of the top 35 wine importing countries and nine of the top 25 spirits importing countries globally.

Thus, depending on the destination, orders can arrive at a retailer’s storefront or consumer’s home within three business days.
